Despite the best efforts of man and machine, come early July 2011, the only road through the heart of Lassen National Park was still closed by the winter's bountiful snowpack. Here you can see the massive walls of snow, over 30 feet high in some areas, adorning the sides of the road which had been cleared, allowing this serene scene.
