Afternoon clouds boil up, high above the rocky ridgeline connecting Mount Conness and and White Mountain. These harsh granite ridges and walls form a natural barrier, with the Tuolumne River and Yosemite National Park on one side, and Lee Vining Creek, leading down to Mono Lake, on the this side.
